Very Good

The Surface Dock 2 is still a sensible buy for someone who is committed to the Surface ecosystem and wants the cleanest possible docking experience. The magnetic Surface Connect cable is convenient, it leaves your device's USB-C ports free, and Microsoft's official compatibility plus firmware support make it a safer choice than random third-party Surface Connect docks. Dual 4K support, 120W charging, and 10 Gbps USB ports are enough for most office setups. The problem is value outside that narrow use case. For the price, you get no SD reader, no downstream Thunderbolt, no support for non-Surface laptops, and less flexibility than a good USB-C or Thunderbolt dock. If you use a Surface Pro, Surface Laptop, or Surface Book as your main machine every day, it is a polished dock. If you want one dock for mixed devices, this is the wrong product.
