Every Dell XPS since 2020 has Thunderbolt 4 ports, which means all Thunderbolt and USB-C docks work out of the box. The question is whether to go with Dell's own docks or a third-party option. Dell's WD22TB4 provides 130W ExpressCharge (unique to Dell laptops) and integrates with Dell Display Manager for monitor controls. Third-party docks like the CalDigit TS4 offer more ports and better cross-platform compatibility.
Power delivery is the main differentiator. The XPS 17 draws up to 130W, which only Dell's own docks can provide. The XPS 13 and XPS 15 are fine with standard 90-100W USB-C PD from any dock.
