A docking station turns your Steam Deck into a desktop gaming setup: plug in one USB-C cable to get video output to your TV, USB ports for a controller or keyboard, and charging all at once. You do not need an expensive Thunderbolt dock for this. A basic USB-C hub with HDMI, a couple of USB-A ports, and 45W power delivery is all you need.
The Steam Deck uses USB-C 3.2 (not Thunderbolt), so the main things to look for are HDMI output resolution, number of USB ports for peripherals, and whether the dock provides enough power to charge while gaming. Valve's official dock costs $89, but there are solid alternatives starting around $30.
